Soul Moves Music is our music services wing, servicing musicians, and film, TV, Internet, advertising, and other mediums with music from Superhero Songwriters. It is a wing of Anne Leighton‘s Music Services business. Anne and partner Karen Besbeck believe in servicing first the artist or music supervisor seeking the perfect song, “They’re the customers. If our songwriters don’t have the right song, we won’t service our people with any song.”

Karen Besbeck is also one of the songwriters on our Soul Moves Music roster. Her songs have been recorded by Award-nominated-and-winning artists, including Juno and CMA winner Patricia Conroy and W.C. Handy nominee James Armstrong. She has also written with Grammy-winning writers and producers.
Listen to Karen’s music in the Netflix series Sweet Magnolias and the soap opera, The Young and the Restless. As a music supervisor, Karen loves matching the right music to a scene.
We have placed our music in film, for performers on TV. Recent work: publicity for “Viral Vignettes” and “Nightclubbin’,” publicity and getting singer in “One Little Finger” winner of World Peace Initiative Award-Best Film Cannes in 2019, Australia’s award-winning documentary, A Venue For The End Of The World with Ian Anderson, Dick Cavett, Jann Klose (BrinkVision). We have done special projects for songwriter/former Miramax attorney Ezra Doner and the upcoming British documentary on Autism, Let Me In.
Under the auspices of Soul Moves Music, we supply every music-related need for all media. Our large rolodex has granted us access to great working composers, songwriters, entertainers, teachers and musicologists–many with major credits.

We believe in our songwriters, citing their talents, musical intuition, and eclectic range. All of them are or were performers, so they have superlative insight on what makes great repertoire.
Songwriters on our roster are: KJ Denhert (multiple Independent Music Award winner/nominee, John Lennon songwriting contest winner) and Joe Deninzon (John Lennon songwriting contest winner, and one of the great electric violinists of our time, including rock, ethnic, classical, jazz, hip hop sessions. His DREAM DIARY: Concerto for 7 String Electric Violin was recently performed with the Muncie Symphony Orchestra), and Rachel Barton-Pine has commissioned him to create compositions.
We are proud to have iconic New York City talents: Phoebe Legere (multi-genre/Americana) will be premiering her radio hit “Amazing Love” in a new movie at Cannes 2018. Recently she and her song, “Hip Hop Frog” appeared on HBO’s documentary It’s Me Hilary by Lena Dunham). (Often Phoebe and Joe Deninzon are hired to compose, arrange, play live for a range of projects in a variety of genres. Both have home studio and pull from a range of musicians. We’re fond of saying, “Legere is Deninzon on keys, and Deninzon is Legere on strings.”)
Gary Lucas who co-wrote Jeff Buckley’s “Grace” and “Mojo Pin” and Joan Osborne’s GRAMMY-nominated song “Spider Web”) had recent placements in Cameron Crowe’s Roadies (Showtime). Rachael Sage‘s masters are heard in the TV show Dance Moms; her song themes are like an empowered Mary Tyler Moore kind of gal coming up in the world. Leo Schaff‘s collaboration, “Give Us Hope” with Jim Papoulis was performed at the Inauguration of President Barack Obama in 2008 by the San Francisco Boys & Girls Chorus).
Phoebe, Leo, Gary and Rachael are some of our artists that have seasonal masters for Christmas and Hanukah. We are proud to represent traditional Christmas music created by collaborators Atlanta Pops Orchestra and John Driskell Hopkins (multi-instrumentalist in the Zac Brown Band).
We are pitching the songs and masters of classic rock/progressive band Gentle Giant who recently was featured on the syndicated radio show, Echoes. We work with Allan Holdsworth‘s solo masters.
Some of our critically-acclaimed songwriters are: Elliott Murphy (often legitimately compared to Bob Dylan and Lou Reed, and an artist that he shares the stage with Bruce Springsteen in France), Michael Veitch (recently recorded by Judy Collins), Bill Leverty (guitarist of the band Firehouse), and Hank Wedel who has great originals including “Listen,” recorded by Christy Moore, Ireland’s most beloved folk singer.
On our roster features joyful, acclaimed songwriters: Rebecca Loebe (a folk singer/songwriter that constantly breaks new ground giving folk-cred to songs by artists as diverse and seemingly “unfolk” as Kanye West & Nirvana). Sleepy Hollow’s The Slambovian Circus of Dreams have spirited masters that have power kindred to Tom Petty & Bruce Springsteen. We have new music from hooksmeister Dean Friedman and Folk/Country singer-songwriter Emily Hurd.
The specialty and eclectic jazz, Americana great Suzahn Fiering, alternative rockers Jack and the Jukebox, dramatic power pop singer, Ms. Jana Peri, acoustic blues guitar and harmonica duo Shun Ng and Magic Dick, and Canadian singer-songwriter Jon Mullane are new artists that we love. Gregory Hyde, from Chicago, is a witty rock and roll fusion of Rick Springfield and the Ramones.
Soul Moves Music plugs songs by Aoede (multiple award winner for both songs and drama writing: Independent Music Awards, John Lennon Songwriting Contest, Parents Choice, Creative Child Magazine, Indie Music Channel…), alternative rocker John Brodeur, Austin’s soulful blues singer and LZ Love Arnold and the late Lightning Red.
Fly Paper features Micaela Kingslight the daughter of guitar maker John Kingslight and Midwestern multi-instrumentalist Joe Chamberlin).
Listen to our powerful talents: Midwest singer-songwriter Jenn Cristy (who originally came into prominence in John Mellencamp’s band), Heavy metal maidens Tang! (with Bonnie Parker and Denny Colt) and calming folk singer/songwriter Dan Berggren, and ISC-finalist children’s music writer Alastair Moock are also on our roster.
